hi mum mobile app case study
Hi Mum – A Thoughtfully Designed Pregnancy Support App
Hi Mum is a platform designed to support expectant mothers, their partners, and close family members by fostering better understanding and assistance throughout the pregnancy journey. This project was developed in collaboration with colleagues at Birmingham City University during my Master’s degree in UX Design, incorporating extensive UI/UX design, branding, prototyping, interaction design, and user research to create an intuitive and supportive experience.
Comprehensive UX Process
The project followed a structured UX design process, starting with in-depth user research to understand the challenges expectant mothers and their support networks face. This informed the development of low-fidelity (Lo-Fi) wireframes, which were refined into high-fidelity (Hi-Fi) prototypes through iterative prototyping and user testing to ensure a seamless and engaging experience. Interaction design was a key focus, ensuring intuitive navigation, smooth transitions, and an engaging user flow.
Key Features & Design Approach
- A community forum where women can guide and support each other.
- A partner support feature to help partners track symptoms and know how to assist.
- Pregnancy tracking tools showing growth stages and what to expect.
- An emergency ambulance feature for quick access to medical assistance.
- A medical advisory section where professionals provide expert guidance.
The UI was designed with a minimalist and calming aesthetic, prioritizing accessibility and ease of use. Branding focused on a warm, reassuring visual identity that aligns with the app’s purpose of providing emotional and practical support.
